Melt Chocolates have created a delicious combination of two beautiful medicinal plants. A dark chocolate bar infused with Cannabidiol oil (“CBD”). Melt aims to capture the health benefits of these two iconic healing plants – both of which have been used by herbalists for millennia.

Why Chocolate and CBD? 

Infusing Chocolate with CBD not only tastes delicious, but it allows the CBD to be consumed in an easily digestible form.   While CBD, as a food additive in the UK, is still in its infancy.  CBD has actually been used as a safe natural remedy since time immemorial due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. By adding CBD to chocolate we combine the pleasurable sensation of serotonin and theobromine with the stress relief of CBD. CBD- An Extract from a Beautiful Medicinal Plant

CBD forms an important part in our natural herbal arsenal to fight pain and relieve stress.  Medicinal herbs have been used for millennia by mankind to treat all kinds of conditions. Many modern medicines are derivatives of this herbal tradition – for instance: aspirin is derived from the humble willow. CBD oil is extracted from one such important plant. A plant that has been stripped of its more powerful psychoactive elements to leave a healthy herbal remedy.

CBD is extracted from the beautiful medicinal plant – the green goddess of the plant world called: Cannabis Sativa L.  You can think of this plant simply in three different components: the (i) fibrous hemp, (ii) CBD, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid, and (iii) THC, the primary psychoactive cannabinoid.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD  is a compound extracted from the flower of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. CBD is one of over 100 phytocannabinoids, or over 400 chemical compounds, produced by the cannabis plant. Along with the CBD all of the cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes and phytonutrients are gently extracted from the plant in order to promote ‘the entourage effect’ and help the body to achieve homeostasis. The active ingredients are then mixed with an oil to aid digestion. There are negligible amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (“THC”) within the chocolate as the hemp we use is derived from EU approved strains containing less than 0.2% THC.

Your own body naturally creates cannabinoids.  CBD works together with these and your bodies natural Endocannabinoid System (“ECS”). The function of your bodies’ ECS is to regulate stress relief, stimulate the immune response and maintain homeostasis including appetite, sleep, and pain relief.  By adding chocolate, we have mixed two superfoods, reducing the bitter taste of the CBD, while adding other cannabinoids and anti-oxidants to enhance the natural endocannabinoid system of your body.

Natural Remedy

For the purposes of CBD – your body has both messengers and receptors. The messengers are the Cannabinoids -while the receptor is essentially your brain (or more specifically EndoCannabinoid System).  Cannabinoids from the CBD oil and the chocolate send messages to your brain to regulate stress relief, enhance your immune response and aid sleep or provide pain relief.  Your body is capable of receiving signals from both your body’s own naturally produced cannabinoids and cannabinoids produced by plants, such as CBD and chocolate.

The London Botanists uses the latest CO2 extraction methods to ensure the CBD oil is free from unwanted compounds (ensuring THC is below EU guidelines of 0.2%) and has the maximum potency level of Cannabidiol.

HEMP OIL 

The London Botanists uses carefully selected hemp farms for their high quality, organic and pesticide-free farming techniques. Allowing nature to do what it does best, resulting in high potency CBD.
