Sugar free chocolate is chocolate made without sugar. There are two main types of sugar free chocolate. Pure dark chocolate or sweetened chocolate.
The purest form of chocolate is 100% cocoa. Our 100% Chocolate Bar is made up of pure chocolate from Madagascar without any added sugar. Chocolate in this form is the “perfect superfood”. Cocoa is packed with anti-oxidants and mood-enhancing properties. The perfect balance of vitamins and minerals. As a fermented fruit, with a long shelf life, this is the ideal vegan or sugar-free treat.
Although a more bitter form of chocolate, 100% chocolate is delicious! Just like getting used to strong flavours like coffee or beer, 100% chocolate just takes a bit of time to adjust to. But once you start enjoying 100% chocolate, there’s no going back! Everything else tastes much sweeter afterwards.
There are many sugar alternatives, both natural and man-made. At Melt Chocolates we use the natural sweetener maltitol. It is a sugar alcohol that is naturally found in some fruits and vegetables.
So if you have a preference for sweeter chocolate, and can’t quite handle the richness of pure cocoa, then we recommend either our sugar free dark chocolate bar, which contains 68% cocoa, or our sugar-free milk chocolate bar, containing 41% cocoa.
Chocolate is healthy – Yes, we know that sounds counterintuitive, but as consumers of vast amounts of chocolate, we are well placed to judge. Melt has turned to leading scientific research to support this claim. The following is based both on consuming huge amounts of chocolate and looking at the latest scientific research.

According to research, cacao beans are super-rich in antioxidant flavonols. Cacao is one of the richest sources of antioxidants of any food.
PEA is a chemical in cacao that increases the activity of neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) in parts of the brain that control our ability to pay attention and stay alert.
Cacao is also a great source of serotonin, dopamine, and phenylethylamine, three well-studied neurotransmitters, which help alleviate depression. Cacao also contains anandamide which delivers blissful feelings and B vitamins, which are associated with brain health. Cacao is a natural prozac!

100% cocoa chocolate, which is sugar free, is good for you! This is because chocolate is technically a fruit. But sugar-free milk chocolate that is replaced with other sweeteners, should be eaten in moderation.
Yes! They are. Sugar-free chocolate has been produced with diabetics in mind. Always good to check the ingredients that have replaced the sugar. But generally sugar-free chocolate is safe to eat for those with diabetes.
